we can access to lots of image formats almost everyday in buying printing images , create files or prelight ,such as PNG、BMP 、GIF or JPEG.But we often don’t know the meaning of the acronym stands for and which image format more suitable for printing.
.some image formats are suitable for use on screens and networks like PNG (Portable Network Graphics),it’s contain image elements such as RGB, indexed color, and transparency.Although PNG images can achieve higher resolution, but it has no support ability of CMYK color space.
.Windows BMP format can support from one-bit (black and white, no gray level) to the 32-bit color depth (millions of colors), but it doesn't suit for printing since of lacking support ability of CMYK.
.GIF is only suitable for use on the Internet, because it was a lower resolution and can only bring up a maximum of 256 colors. So, don't use GIF image in the printing.
.JPEG is a lossy compression algorithm ,in other words, in order to generate a smaller number of files, it will leave some information of the image. If the picture has higher resolution,it would not damage the image quality with slightly compressed JPEG files for printing, but if compress information too much, the rectangle in the image will distortion, especially in the detail area.
