When I signed up for the mission trip to Abaco I did not know what I was doing. I had been on one mission trip to Chicago to deliver free plates of lunch to the homeless. Never had I imagined that I would have such an amazing connection with the island and the people. And little did I know the devastation that would occur just 4 months later. Titi and his family lost everything to #HurricaneDorian. I am beyond blessed to have been able to reconnect with this little boy who stole my heart in Little Darlings Daycare. Thank you Vangie for allowing me to be apart of your lives during this very vulnerable season. I am beyond blessed to have you all in my life. I love you guys! And thank you to my Pastor Rod Parsley for having the vision of Valor Christian College! My trip to the Abacos was definitely an eye opening life changing experience. Also an eye opener into my love for missions and Evangelism. (I would definitely go back if given the opportunity) Seeing the smiles of the kids faces everyday when we pulled in to play in a dirt lot filled with trash and broken glass under the blazing hot sun. And then Watching the tears fall down their faces on the last day as we drove away for the last time will stay with me forever! In America, we are failing our children bc we are so consumed in our trials and tribulations that we are forgetting the ones who are watching us. I saw the hunger for God while on this trip. Something I don’t see much of in America. Americans have the mentality that there’s always tomorrow. But in all reality tomorrow is not promised to no man. You could fall asleep tonight and have a seizure that causes you to meet your eternal destination. Give God your YES today! God will meet you wherever you are. To witness what these children live in everyday was heart breaking. The filth. The trash. Broken glass. The clothes that didn’t fit either bc it was too big or too small. But no matter what they smiled through it all. To see the joy they had when we arrived just to play in a dirt lot filled with broken glass and trash really hit home with me. My children have never known what it’s like to go without. I pray one day they can witness what I did this past week. Please do not take your children for granted. Please love them bc most of these children do not receive the love they deserve. Instead, they are beaten and abused. See them as blessings not inconveniences.
