college-age GOARM (Little Buddy) has since been amended to be much less modified if at all. Or at least, less "fully-formed"? hm. Train thing has also been amended bc clearly they keep using that lab. lol

see i dont think they need to amputate their fingers thats a bit much innit. surgery's a lot.

im too lazy to tackle everything else but they do take a lot of painkiller sometimes and they do also use some sort of medication to suppress instabilities. how that works idk but it's part of the "THIS IS NOT CANON-COMPLIANT" section of the AU huh who wouldve guessed

as I said before I feel like it's better if their backstory is left more ambiguous than this. by posting this iteration even if it's scrapped I am kind of posting an infohazard but Alas. archival work is fun isnt it

Did GOARM really fail? hm. needs reworking. what matters is EOBL leaves them the lab and encourages their Potential to do better.

I'm not sure EOBL would terminate them and termination does not seem a foolproof method given the Strand Fuckery.

the idea of GOARM acting for parental affection is important but im not sure EOBL would or should state that motivator so explicitly

I think GOARM's backstory might be better if EOBL died but then we wouldn't have 99? Unless I rewrote it entirely. But the Possibility / Belief of her still remaining is something I've toyed with forever now. I would have to decide on that soon bc it's the conceit of that one comic wip lol

note: personally I think this whole segment is unnecessary and could be scrapped without losing anything of value. I really don't like this.

this backstory expansion makes their character feel weaker IMO. it's just not satisfactory.

see the seam ripper parallel is cool but it's Unnecessary, imo, especially after the reworks. It used to be a more direct analogue to Saint Karma Blast, but now it's different. it's like pulling you from a specific strand.

(the seam ripper parallel is why they had to be injured, by the way. The injury activated it as a defense mechanism.)

Originally this was a TA experiment but see now I understand it better so I don't think Personal Ascension Beam is super useful. And TBH that's not what EOBL is looking for to begin with so. Do you see why this whole thing is unnecessary and superfluous?

What matters is that GOARM was considered "failed" for whatever reason, or was passed over. IDK this needs reworking and I will hopefully get to that at some point.

notes:

unsure about their subject designation. I've toyed with Subject 00, too. does it really matter? Subject Zero sounds cool, though. I guess I'll just avoid the detail since it doesn't seem like something that'd come up organically, since they have a name. problem for future Luna.

Lab is not located on the surface it's underground. which I guess is arguably more "surface" than "city" but whatever.

Rather than a focus on Spiritual Enlightenment, I think the focus should be on Spiritual / Karmic Influence / Strand Manipulation / Whatnot. I'm not sure how to express this but there's reason to believe certain beings were able to influence these sorts of things whilst the iterator-builders were unable to. I feel like Guardians, probably, and Iterators, who've been designed to mimic certain "biological bottlenecks" that may restrict these abilities?

Regardless, while the execution is lacking, I think the overall premise of Purposing an organism to help EOBL manipulate the material plane in an effort to gain control of the "world of Cycles" or to manipulate the Cycle itself has merit. The Divine fanaticism and Deification of certain beings also works, though it could use more nuance in its expression. I can see a Fascination with Guardians.

sorry my brain is really struggling rn I'm having a hard time putting it into words. EOBL's goal is to pursue a way of influencing or reshaping the carnal world instead of transcending or escaping it via Ascension.

Is abating the urges really a necessary focus? I don't know, but I think it would be seen as worth pursuing, both for a practical focus on Purpose and to try and avoid complicating factors.

I don't think they'd have a clear image of what Void Worms look like...

in general that segment could do with some more ambiguity? hm. needs work.

Do we wish to allude to the terminology of "Angels"? Unsure. I think you-know-who is pretty angelic, so maybe?
