I apologize, as the original ask meme this goes to is long lost in the depths of my blog (and I don’t even send my enemies down -that- well of infinite darkness and memes) and therefore I will instead supplement this by using the number ask meme I recently reblogged (and please feel free to send more numbers)5. On an average day, what can be found in their pockets?Toriel loves to care for the small plants and monsters of the ruins, and so often has the pockets of her robe stocked with several pieces of monster candy and a few packets of fertilizer, handing them out to sad looking monsters and scattering them over the plants respectively. Then, once her rounds around the ruins are done, she heads back to Home, where she cooks and cleans. During this time her pockets are stuffed with cleaning things, rags and dusters and rolling pins and shell crackers galore. Of course there’s always a book about snails in one of the larger pockets, along with a notebook and pencil secreted away for writing down puns as they pop into her head. She’s never without these latter two, the notebook especially when she visits the door to the underground for her talks with Sans. 17. What was (character’s) favorite toy as a child?Toriel had a princess rag doll as a child that she loved to pieces, literally. She would carry it around with her daily, dragging it through the dirt when she was very little and in her arms as she grew up. It went everywhere with her, the long thin dress more stitches than fabric by the time she was in her teens and the yarn hair filled in with every color of the rainbow over the years. But her favorite part of the doll was a small scrap of deep, royal purple fabric she had found in an alley a few weeks after the royal family had visited. she’d taken it home, washed it to gleaming with a small scrap of soap, and sewed it into the front of her princess’ dress herself. She took much better care with her doll from then on, and that scrap of purple fabric kept a smile on her face every day no matter what happened.She’d kept the doll even after becoming an adult and marrying Asgore, learning a few years after they’d wed, when he’d caught her holding her doll tenderly, that the scrap of purple fabric was from his own cloak he’d had as a child, bringing it out from storage to show her the mended space at the edge which matched her scrap perfectly.29. What did (character) dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?As is quite obvious from her favorite toy, she dreamed of becoming a princess one day, being waited on and meeting noble people and having fancy dresses and dancing every evening in grand balls. She wasn’t poor by any means when she was growing up (I headcanon she was the daughter of a seamstress and a cobbler) but she always was enamored with royalty. Then, after moving to the monster capitol and starting her own combination cobbler and seamstress shop, met the crown prince, Asgore, though at that time he’d been in disguise. Having heard of her shop, and being in a rebellious stage well into young adulthood, he visited her shop to get a new tunic the same color as the flowers in the castle gardens, a bright yellow with hints of gold, even bringing one of them with him to show the color. Needless to say, the fuzzy pushover fell head over heels for her, couldn’t even say more than three words in a row without the fourth wrecking into the fifth. His opening line? “Hello, I’d like atupleasenic yellow here bye,” leaving the flower with Toriel and dashing out a red mess.Of course, knowing the poor fool would be back the next day for a fitting (a woman’s intuition) she took the flower to the monster she got her dyes from. It cost a fair amount (a bargain really, but who argues with a monster who can make fire when you run a dye shop?) but she got the dye and made the fabric.The next day, precisely when he’d shown up the day prior, the fuzzy monster who’d asked for the tunic returned, a fresh flower in hand and a slightly better control over his speech, “Hello, can you make a tunic this color yes please I well pay much good thank you.” She caught him and took his measures, promising the tunic on the day after, adding it would be a hefty price thanks to the dye.The third day he completed two whole sentences, received his tunic, and got a date. The rest? History.
