WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY??? HELLO???
don't know why I've never done this before but here are some of my favourite responses on your ai slop bores me:
This is your reminder that it's totally okay to redo a section of that chapter you were struggling with writing. It's also okay to redo the whole chapter. Maybe the whole story. You are not truly stuck, you feel stuck. But you are the creator of this story and being the creator means your creation is controlled by you (unless, of course, it's a collaborative project). If your creation isn't working the way you want it to, it is fine to start from scratch, even on one little thing or the whole thing. Don't be afraid to do that.
How can anyone find AI-generated slop genuinely appealing?
I usually keep my blog peaceful, unless I'm reblogging important and serious things. But I just want to rant about this for a moment!
I used to like AI-generated things a few years ago because I couldn't really tell what was wrong with AI (and I didn't want to admit anything flawed about it because of how much I used to like it). But now that I look at it honestly, it is actual slop. And some humans are just eating it all up.
And I don't say this from a point of "oh, my perspective's been ruined by the politics surrounding AI". I said what I said and I mean it GENUINELY, I'm looking at it honestly and wondering how the hell I ever thought anything it made looked good.
Sure, there are more AI-generated feces laying about today that look more appealing than their predecessors. But as an artist and someone with a sibling who would like to be a photographer, it's incredibly difficult to not notice how disgusting it all looks. Blobs in places they shouldn't be. Missing pupils. Horrible lighting study. Weird composition. And when it's "animated"? Terrible work at realistic movement AND human voices if there's audio. Faces look too smooth and they just look like softened squishy porridge at the bottom of the pot mixed with the slipperiness of an eel.
Aside from if the politics around AI didn't exist, I would not be having this reaction if people didn't talk about AI like it's PERFECT. I see so many people, especially older people for some reason, who are obsessed with AI and like every AI-generated image they see, calling it "so gorgeous".
Brother, that is not gorgeous. That woman has three fingers on one hand and two conjoined fingers on the other. Her curly hair is texturally incorrect compared to actual curly hair. She's literally got a third breast growing out from her collarbone, it's just too tiny to initially notice.
If we were to lean more into the anti-AI artists discussion, when it comes to human art, people love clowning on beginner artists and calling their art ugly and stupid. And although it being "ugly" isn't always false, it would sure mean a lot more if the same people didn't think AI "art" is beautiful. How do you act like you have such a good eye for wonderful art but bend over the table and suck AI's digital pole, moaning "it's sooo goood!!!"? Because at this point, you look more like you don't know what good art is supposed to look like. Actually, you look like you know nothing about art.
More importantly, why are you kinder to a machine pooping out pixels than an actual 11-year-old who just wants to be an artist someday? Think about that for a moment.
Closing statement: AI is not as good as humans are, AI "animation" is awful, I hate AI, I hate AI slop, I can't wait for it to finally die so that everyone who supported AI finally goes outside and realizes they were wrong. :)
I'm busy trying a profile revamp for my OC Harrison. But I'm wondering if the 'personality' section should be shorter?
hold it right there ✋ stahp. 😐 gimme that can of beans 🥫 HAND IT OVER 👹
Very happy right now because after spending 15 minutes scrolling and hunting for writing advice on this website I came to a very important conclusion.
So, I draw, right? I doodle, sketch and on a very rare occasion, will make a finished piece. I used to think drawing was easier than writing, even though if you asked my family, they'd say "writing's totally their thing!" And they'd be right, I just found drawing easier.
Why did I find it easier? Well, because when you look up advice for drawing, it's very straightforward and you can see the clear difference between what looks objectively better and what doesn't. However, I had bad luck looking for writing advice before, because it seemed that everyone had different opinions on what good writing entails, and the writing advice I could understand and apply best was the most common writing advice: "just write", "words instead of said", etc.
And not just that, but the fact that drawing was something I felt like I could do anytime and I could doodle anything, even if it was just a scratchy cloud thing. However when I was writing, I felt like I needed to think clearly about what I wanted to write and basically write it "good enough" on the first or second try. I was way too hard on myself when it came to writing.
But then, I found this amazing post about Sharknado and how whimsically random it is. And I realized... I CAN WRITE "BAD"! IT'S JUST LIKE DOODLING! Kinda embarrassing that it took this long to fully digest, but I'm hoping whoever sees this also realizes the same. If people love Sharknado, they'll love your story too! Obviously, I still want to write my own stories in a way that is close to "professional", but I feel much more freer to wait for that. And to currently, just write some BS. If it's confusing, I'm sure the lack of logic will trigger some better ideas sleeping at the back of my mind. That's usually how it works for me anyway.
I'm gonna try and write today, if my schedule allows it. Happy writing, y'all!
-> Here's the post I was talking about, btw
I've only gotten permission from one attacker to post one of the attacks I got, so here's the first ever attack on my OC Harrison! I'm very grateful for this and I love it so much!
