okay idk why but i've developed this headcanon that sam's pregnancy was difficult and ther ewere concerns that mary wouldn't be able to carry him to term and even after he was born there were worries about his health. and, like, we know hunting isn't the most sanitary life but john always tried his best, especially when sammy was younger and maybe he never told dean *exactly* why they had to be careful with sam but dean picked up on it and internalized it.

dean ALWAYS checking for mold and being willing to spring the money for sanitizing wipes and bleach to keep things clean for sam so he doesn't get sick

I wish they would have given sam some allergies or SOMETHING to make dean even crazier </3 when they check into a motel dean changes the sheets on the beds and sprays everything with disinfectant and sam is so used to it he doesnt even react
