The other day, @tendermiasma posted this:
Subscribestar quietly updated their TOS yesterday to ban a load of previously allowed content at the behest of payment processors. There are no safe platforms. This will keep happening and we have to fight back.
(I am linking to their post rather than commenting or reblogging, because I don't want to derail their discussion about providing public commentary to the Federal Reserve Website.)
This led to the following exchange on the Discord server I frequent:
[REDACTED]: Subscribestar was supposed to be the "Adult" processor that everyone fled to. Now I don't know where the hell anyone is gonna go. Athelind: Crypto on the Dark Web. Athelind: oh holy shit Athelind: I just blurted that out but I think it was an attack of Bard's Tongue. Athelind: Because OF COURSE that's why the Epstein Class is simultaneously goading the god-botherers to pressure all the payment processors while pushing to mainstream crypto. Athelind: fnord fnord fnord fnord Athelind: the christofascists and the cryptofascists
This doesn't even qualify as "conspiracy theory": it is at the most generous a conspiracy hypothesis.
Still, it makes sense on some level: the concerted push to make it impossible to conduct commerce involving legal-but-potentially-"offensive" content going hand in hand with the crypto bros pushing to get legal recognition for their supposedly-untraceable play money...
