i saw the movie a second time. it seems a bit better to me now, but the treatment of all the POC in that movie is unforgivable and there’s plenty of pointless scenes that could’ve been cut-out for character + better plot development
also. rey/o is still fucking dead. the whole movie was rey, compassionate and good-hearted, trying to turn an evil fucking snake to her side, and failing. failing. ben solo’s gone, there’s no grappling for a redemption for him. the next movie is going to be them trying to have him dead. any scenes that can be interpreted as “romantic” are ended by it being utterly shot down. rey looking hopefully up at kylo when she arrives? he turns and walks away and has her handcuffed. him trying in vain to manipulate her to his side (which, by-the-fucking-way, is still in no way romantic)? she refuses. rey’s goodhearted but she’s not a fucking idiot. luke realized there was no hope for ben, leia did, han tried and died, and the movie ends with her finally realizing it.
it’s BAFFLING how people still think this damn ship is anywhere near canon.
