Is it just me, but from rewatching OSP's episode on Miscellaneous Myths: Astraea, I think Astraea would probably be the Fairy Godmother Goddess to some crazy Greek/Roman Mythology Cinderella Story. Seriously, her myth opens doors to stories ten times better than Disney's Wish. Imagine her singing Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! If anyone wants me to draw this potential idea with one of my characters, please comment if you agree!

Here’s a moodboard for the Greek Goddess Astraea and also some research I did.

Astraea (meaning Star Maiden) was the virgin goddess of the stars, justice, innocence and purity. Hesiod has her parents being Eos and Astraeus, though I’ve also read that her parents could have been Zeus and Themis. Most depictions of her show a winged woman, holding a torch and scales, though she can also sometimes be seen with Zeus’s lightning bolts.

Astraea was the last immortal to live alongside mortals, leaving the Earth in the Iron Age, when Zeus flooded the earth to rid it of mankind’s evil (some accounts I’ve read also say she left during the golden age or Bronze Age). When she fled, she cried at the loss of life, her tears becoming stardust, which fell to earth creating the Aster flower. She then became the constellation of Virgo, its said that when she returns, Humanity will enter a new golden age.

I couldn’t find much about modern worship of her and her associations, but in an Amino article by Higgledy-pig, they list some general correspondences (and a lot of personal ones) such as colours associated with the sky (blue, purple, pink, orange, grey, white etc), small brightly coloured flowers (lavender, dandelion and Aster flowers are specifically noted), Animals like butterflies and Mourning doves and several crystals.

I think I just met my Matron Goddess.

I was still trying to rest before having to get up before work and I closed my eyes, starting to go into a dream I guess. I didn’t see her face, all I saw were hands and I asked her name. Stella was the answer I was given. Just woke up and started researching, turns out Stella is a name that means “star” in Latin and sort of goes with the Greek Goddess Astraea, the immortal who became the Virgo constellation!!

I’m a Virgo, I’ve been overthinking so much lately for work and freaking out and I think she finally had a reason to get in my face and say wake up b*tch let’s get saving the world.

Anyone have similar experiences? Has anyone worked with her? I’m going to be at a loss till I can do more research after work.
