The poem was written referring to ancient aretologies of the Egyptian goddess Hathor. Hathor could appear as a woman with the head of a cow, as a woman wearing cow horns and a sun disk, or as a cow. She was a mother goddess, a goddess of love, beauty, and dancing, and also greeted the deceased when they arrived in the Underworld.
