Finally! A completed ref for Godeneche. A little more about him under the cut, I'll be uploading more of him soon. Actual art, this time :")

- He speaks Basque and Spanish, and learned French when he moved to France in 1775. He speaks French very well, though he plays up his accent and how much he "knows" when he wants to be defiant

- His wife is Marie-Louise Barbier, though he calls her "Lou". She is French and definitely encourages him to stay loyal to France even when he is at his lowest. They love each other very much. And they DONT CHEAT! #win

- His horse is a dark bay-colored, and she is named Tarta

- As I said in a previous post, he is friends with Ney and Lefebvre. He has a complex relationship with the other marshals in general, as he isn't good with following orders and usually likes to do what he feels is the best. It works out most of the time, but it creates tension

- That being said, his relationship with Napoleon went through various changes throughout his time as marshal. While he obviously respects Napoleon and is supportive of the empire and it's rule, and he believes Napoleon is the best leader to rule France, he also loudly disagrees with certain things that threaten both his job and his relationship with the emperor

- I might make a separate post about the Spanish invasion if anyone is interested, though the gist of it is that Godeneche was across Europe at the time and heard of the invasion (and the establishment of Joseph as the king) a little too late. He was absolutely furious, full on "I'm going to meet Napoleon face-to-face and show him a piece of my mind" type of fury. He didn't get fired, and went with Napoleon on the Russian campaign. So... relationships were... maybe repaired...

- In general, he is kind of like a cheesecake with a tough, burnt exterior, but he has a soft, gooey center. And from a very specific region in Spain. Hmm...

I'm really interested in your marshal oc, Godeneche! If it is no trouble at all, whats his relationship with the other marshals? He reminds me a bit of Davout :)) Love your art!!

Awww thank you for the Godeneche interest! That means so much!! I'll be uploading some more art of him soon, too

Hehe, he is sort of like if Davout if Davout's loyalty to Napoleon was a bit ... shakier. Godeneche wants to serve him, though he is pretty loud about things he doesn't agree with. He has a lot to say about the Spanish campaign and... I'll work it out and might make a post about that within itself actually!

He respects bravery, intelligence, and individuality. He prides himself on his own independence and recognizes that in other people. His relationships with the other marshals can be a little strained... he is vocal about disagreements and sometimes just doesn't listen to them because he feels he knows the right way to do things.

However, he has friends! He is good friends with Ney. They became friends I imagine somewhat early on after becoming marshals, respected each other in battle, and eventually started liking each other personally. They traveled on the Russian campaign together (yes I have the campaigns he was in all listed out😭) and though at that point his relationship with Napoleon was at a low (previously mentioned Spanish campaign...) and just worked off of each other very well. Ney most likely would convince Godeneche to join him in trying to get Napoleon to abdicate. I also feel like he would have a good relationship with Lefebvre, and both of their gruff, blunt natures together would somehow bring out a softer side in both of them. Godeneche and Lefebvre are very similar in personality!

People he would be ok with/neutral on might be Murat. He would like Murat's fighting style, though I think they are simply too strong of personalities to be around each other too much, but might make a pretty deadly team. They might warm up to each other, but I feel he would disapprove of him betraying Napoleon (Godeneche obviously is disloyal in the "correct way", or that's how he feels)

Speaking of deadly teams, if him and Davout and Berthier actually find a way to work together, they would work very well. However I feel Godeneche would not like Berthier as much, and while he would possibly like Davout more I'd imagine if they disagreed on anything there would be a major fight.

I won't go over every marshal, but I hope this is enough to get a good read on his personality 🥰
