“Tragic, what happened to him. I am terribly sorry for your loss. Mr. Lee must have thought very highly of you for him to leave his life’s work to such a young man.”
Seungcheol forced a tight smile as the old geezers fawned over him. He hated social events, he hated them with a passion. He could feel the familiar heat inside of him burn slow and foreboding, the flames of rage licking at his veins. But no, now that he had assumed power over SVEnergy, it was expected of him to make appearances.
“He tried to keep me away from the hustle and bustle of the business world for as long as he could so that I could focus on my studies. He was like a father to me, really.” The lies tumbled out of his mouth like honey, easily convincing the people around him of his role as the dutiful ward. They all nodded their heads in admiration as they continued to titter mindlessly over how handsome he looked, how so very competent he was for someone so young. Humans. So easily swayed by a smile and the promise of power.
He excused himself after another flute of champagne, finally freeing himself from their claws, his smile immediately dropping once his back was turned, his hands moving to straighten his blazer.
That was when he felt it. The warm glow of good, the saccharine sweet smell of heralds.
His lips curled in a soft growl as he turned his head to and fro to locate the creature. That was when he saw it, the quick flash, the sound of a camera reeling, the smell of the righteous. He straightened at the sight of the man, moving his hands to his pockets and morphing his grimace into a dangerous, almost predatory smile.
“I would like a picture.”
