When the elevator shuddered to a halt, Reiji tried to pretend it was merely stopping aggressively for the other occupant's floor. When a chime didn't ring out to signify the elevator had reached its destination and the doors didn't open, only then did Reiji slowly look up from the insufferable joke he was texting Hikaru to stare at the other occupant of the elevator as though it was their fault. He was a foreigner, and for once had hair almost as red as he did.
For all his eccentricities, his new "roommate" had plenty of initiative, pressing buttons in a vain effort to get the elevator moving again. When that didn't work, he was motivated to call and complain, which to Reiji's surprise actually worked.
After announcing that they would be stuck for at least an hour, Reiji was more surprised at being referred to as "sir." Despite everything, he smiled.
"I guess we'd better get comfortable then," he said, pulling off his hooded sweatshirt to reveal the dress shirt he had worn to a job interview earlier. Sinking down to lean down against the wall, he rolled up his sleeves with a casual air that suggested anything but being trapped in an elevator.
"I'm Reiji Tanaka. Sorry to meet you under these circumstances."
