ALBUMS FOR FEBRUARY, no. 14. Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, Greatest Hits, Vol. II. Wow. If you’ve been away from Smokey awhile, or just found him when he mispronounced “Chanukah” last year, he’s so good. The first four songs on this album I’m surprised were not on the greatest hits volume one. I love “Tracks of My Tears” so much, those backing horns playing triplets under the chorus, mwah. I was doing the elliptical and pumping my arm in the air and not falling off. And Going to a Go-Go? And even the songs I didn’t remember from whenever I last listened to this—some of them are not as great as the greatest, obviously, and maybe they were stretching a little to fill out this second album. but he sure sells them. I chose this not only around his birthday but because of that ad where the moon rover is bouncing along to “Cruisin’” which sadly is not on this. #smokeyrobinson #smokeyrobinsonandthemiracles #goingtoagogo #tracksofmytears (at Noblesville, Indiana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CL02RW5LOxk/?igshid=tuuuoeb7f1ki
