Progress Update — 4th April 2023

The dissertation is done and handed in! Thanks again for your kind words from that.

I'm a step closer to fully delving into Golden's universe again. I did some writing on it over the past few days, and did some additional planning for the end of chapter ten and I'm rather excited for it.

I've finally started the scene that's been playing on my mind, I'm glad it's finally started because it's been difficult to get going.

The first choice options of that scene have been written up. I'm onto the second choice options, though I've realised that I've given myself a bit of work to do as I added in both a fake-dating route (romance) and the friend route—so I have to write 8 different scenarios for one choice which can get a bit repetitive, but I'm hoping it's fun to read. Especially as the choice is quite new to the game, it's an [in denial] choice to romance in game. I was thinking that if the ros can be in denial to the mc and any feelings, the mc should be able to act the same way at times—so fingers crossed that comes off well.

The last bit of planning I've done, well... it pretty much involves blackmail, and angst, and comfort, so it should be a good chapter if you're into that stuff :) — I'd say the ros are in for a treat, but with all the angst, I'd be lying. It's a little tragic, to be honest... but tragedy can bring a human and a few supernaturals closer... maybe.

Progress Update — 15th April 2023

Progress is progress and I’ve made a whole lot of it!

It’s been so amazing and fun to get back into writing, like I’ve genuinely loved getting back into it and I finally finished off that scene I mentioned last week. The friendship scenes are done, and I’m super excited to share them with you guys. You’re able to develop your friendships with the ros, and you get to do that one on one in a supernatural setting.

The friendship scenes for each ro ended up being over 2k words, and there are a few branches to read through so I think the replayability works really well.

I think, so far, this has been my favourite chapter to write. I usually say this about every new chapter I write, but I truly do like this one and I hope it’s going to be an enjoyable read for you all.

I'm onto the ro pov scenes now! I've written one of the ros' scenes already, they're my favourite to write. I love delving into the ros’ mind and their reaction to the fake dating (or friend route), and… you get to see their conversation with new character Zillah Arryn (cough tragic backstories here we go, Zillah's a bitch... seriously, angst and tragedy all over cough).

I’m probably about halfway through, or just over that so we’re in a good position to get an update out extremely soon!

Progress Update — 23rd March 2023

All progress is good progress (and I mean this for both Golden and my dissertation!)

Anyway, I’m 99.9% sure you’re not interested in my dissertation, so Golden stuff—I managed to get another few hundred words written. There are three choices in total equalling three scenes, and this scene has two branches to it. Depending on what you choose, you can meet a whole group of new people… or be introverted and do the total opposite.

After this scene (& one more where a previous character will make an appearance), that‘ll be the end of the plot scenes with the mc on their own. I think it’s nice that the mc gets to roam around a supernatural environment on their own, chat to people, and get a feel for the world… and find out some secrets and mysteries along the way… a rather big one in particular. Afterwards, well, you’re back with your date for the gala and experience quite a bit of angst.

I can’t for certain say when a new update will be posted, as much as I’d love to spend all my time on it, there’s a month left of university so every second has gone to that.

But after April : ) I will be trying my best to churn out as much quality writing as possible. I have so much planned for this series and the ros, so I can’t wait to explore it all.

Word count: 321.2k — I’m not entirely sure how many words I’ve added since the last update, but chapter 10 is over 12k now.

Golden Progress Update — 16th October 2022

I've been up since 5am, got over 40k words written in 14 days! I honestly thought I'd never be able to tell you that I've finished writing chapter nine! I went through a lot with it, and with the year I've had, clutching onto joyous moments is everything and this is one of those moments.

I promise this next update is going to be a good one! <3

Progress Update — 13th February 2023

It is wayy too late for me to say Happy New Year, like, we're in February. It's criminal... but I'll say it anyway! I hope 2023 has been a great start for you.

I haven't posted a progress update for a while, mostly for the fact that I haven't written that much this year, to my dismay. University has been a huge pain in that regard, the workload hasn't stopped at all, and it's really frustrating because I know that there can be a long time between updates which usually makes me think, 'do these ideas I have still work? is this story still interesting enough? why isn't this chapter finished by now? how long are people willing to wait to read this?' etc. Technically, it's all just stuff that I need to get over mentally, it's very much a 'me' thing to work on and a self-care thing too.

To actual writing stuff: I hoped you liked the short specials I posted a few months ago, and the Phoenix artwork created by @enspey. In terms of Golden as a whole, I'm already well into chapter ten. I've written two full scenes (all dependent on your choices) that are plot-based, and then there's one more choice left to write, and then the story steers into a bit more character-driven direction with team x mc scenes! It's one of the scenes I'm most eager to write because friendship is just as important as romance.

Golden Progress Update — 13th July 2022

I wish I was much more consistent with these progress updates, but I promise in the weeks I haven't given an update, I have been writing.

Chapter 9 is continuing on. With K and P's first individual scenes finished, I started A and B's at the same time. Usually, I don't work like that, but I have this odd thought that writing them both at the same time will help me work faster... don't ask about that thought process, I haven't got a clue how I've managed to work that out but hey-ho.

It's fun writing their scenes because A and B are so different as characters, they have different reactions to things too so it's always interesting to see the contrast. Depending on your choice you get to meet a new supernatural and get to interact with her — she's pretty carefree and upbeat and cool.

When A and B's scenes I'll have this weight lifted off my shoulders because writing this bit has been such a slog, but I think the writing is good in terms of readers will enjoy the information they're going to find out/learn about and the interaction with the ROs.

And when those scenes are done then the romantic fun begins :)

So, yeah, do know that I'm writing even though my presence on here isn't all there.

Golden Progress Update — 1st October 2022

Hello, hello. It's been a while, like a very long while. I actually wrote words, and quite a few words too which I'm extremely proud of. For months I wasn't able to get anything typed, my concentration levels were terrible and everything was just... bad, frankly.

I'm still on A and B's scenes, that's where I left off and picked up again. The scenes are slightly different so it gets rid of the repetitiveness a little, and a third of B's scene is done and almost a third of A's scene is done.

There's still a bit to do before chapter nine is done, and I'm reluctant to give a date for when it'll be done and released for you to read because, well, anything could happen that causes that date to be pushed back.

Howeverrr, we're back on track. I promise you'll get that update soon and it'll all be worth it.

Golden Progress Update — 20th June 2022

I know it’s been a while since my last progress update, but don’t be disappointed because I’ve gotten a lot of writing done.

My plans from the last update were to start the birthmark discussion scene and begin the first RO x MC scene. I can happily say that the chat about the birthmark scene is very much done, and I think super informative too — there are questions that the MC can ask and more Golden lore to learn about.

Starting the MC x RO scene is very much started — I’ve finished two of them! K’s one on one scene was the first I started and finished; I’ve been mentioning that I think you’ll see the vampire in a different light here. Additionally, you’ll be able to have a chat about the compulsion too.

Today I finished off P’s one on one scene — depending on the options you choose, you get to see their magic in action… well, read about it because the magic happens in a scene that’s in their point of view. It was a very fun scene to write, and those who are romancing P will like it, I think ;)

Both of those one on one scene alone are well over 10,000 words — I’ve been annoyed with myself that I haven’t gotten through those scenes quicker, but writing that many words, coming up with different choice variations and ideas for each RO really is something — so I’m less annoyed now.

Writing for chapter 9 is still going very, very well — whether I’ll get an update by the end of the month… I’m not sure but if not June then July!
