𝗚𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗘: A GAME OF TELEPHONE PROMPTS
The doors slide shut with a familiar hiss of air and moments later the train disappears into the yawning abyss of the tunnels. UNFORTUNATE. Twice as unfortunate when taking into account the fact that it was the last train running tonight. Chishiya can hear the sounds of DISAPPOINTED GROANS and stalling footsteps of a group of teenagers who were behind him who know with a glimpse of seeing him that they've failed to make it to the train in time. GAME OVER! ( Except this time with no lasers. )
It's what prompted Chishiya to text Sett a quick message that he missed the last train so he'll be late. The response is almost immediate, lighting up his screen mere seconds after it had gone dim with an offer of assistance. It's so predictably Sett. The man could be halfway across the world and Chishiya knows he'd rush back to him in a split second if he needed it. ALL THAT POWER WITH A SINGLE MESSAGE. It does wonders for Chishiya's controlling nature. He doesn't do it and he doesn't INTEND to. But there's reassurance in that he could. Like having a weapon on hand even if you don't think you'll need it. BETTER TO HAVE IT AND NOT NEED IT THAN NEED IT AND NOT HAVE IT.
[To: Sett - Status: SENT - 12:59 a.m.] You don't need to. I'll be fine.
A midnight walk wasn't new to Chishiya. Ever since coming back from the Borderlands, there was a restlessness that clawed inside his chest some nights. Something that drove him out to empty, dark streets as if he might find a game venue to play. Sett would hate it. Chishiya simply tells him he's out for a walk ; a truth albeit with a missing goal.
[To: Sett - Status: SENT - 1:02 a.m.] If it comes down to it, I can order a taxi. You don't need to stop what you're doing. I'll see you when I get there.
Will it convince Sett? Not likely. He's certain that if Sett doesn't already have his shoes on, he'll be waiting restless in the hallway waiting for him to return. Or he might be so preoccupied that he won't be able to focus on his previous activity until Chishiya has made it back. MAYBE HE'S GOTTEN BETTER. ( Logic supplies the answer of doubtful when paired with Sett's personality. ) His second text might ease some of the tension that his initial text might not have.
Chishiya takes one last look before he pockets his phone and turns back up the stairs to exit onto the street and back into the familiar night. It's almost comforting.
