19. have you ever been to New York?
my high school senior trip (back in 2007) was to nyc. we spent ~a week there. my group got lost on the subways on the way back from seeing the lion king. wound up almost to coney island when we were supposed to be going to manhattan. i’d absolutely love to go again, but not alone. and maybe not in february.

hell yeah! i love mice & rats! they’re adorable! also snakes and lizards are really cool & as long as i don’t personally have to feed anything a live mammal, i’m down to hang out with our scaled pals

definitely how they treat people with lower social standing. like not just big things like “is he overtly racist” or “does he hate women” but small stuff too, like “does he say ‘thanks’ to the waiter” or “does he smile at the checkout clerk”

27. what is a piece of advice you have for young / baby gays
make friends with other lgbt people, and not just the ones exactly like you. make friends with gay men and with lesbians and with bi people and trans people. make friends with bears and butches. make friends with the stereotypes and with the people you’d “never guess” are lgbt and everyone in between. also, be smart about it, but make friends who are older. your peers are going through your issues, but people 5 years older than you have already been there and can help you get through it
29. what is the most uncomfortable / strange coming out experience you have
i mean… i didn’t say “i’m gay” in so many words, but i guess the experience of “coming out” to an entire writing class through a really emotionally vulnerable poem about being a gay and in love was kind of nerve-wracking but then when we got the critiques back, the professor had written that he took the poem home & read it aloud to his husband and they both wept, so that kinda made up for the whole “telling 24 strangers i’m a weepy homosexual” stress
