What types of clocks are needed in a golf course?
Golf course use both regular clocks and special clocks to keep up with schedules and concluding tournaments. Basically a golf course will need three types of clocks for different purposes and for different turfs. The clocks used at golf courses are
· Outdoor post clocks
· Slow play or pace of play clocks
· Clubhouse clocks
Only after installing these three clocks a golf course become complete. Golf play involves playing over hectares of land consisting of well mowed lawns, rough patches, woods, bunkers, water holes and fairways. It is mixed forms of landscapes that make the golf play interesting. The outdoor post clocks occupy maximum course areas because the golf course is divided in 18-holes and players have to complete the 18 holes to find the winner. You may need more than a golf clock for a hole and the full golf course is spread over an area of 150 acres and an average course needs a maintained turf area of 74 acres. Rest can be the above landscapes that are rough landscapes that need no maintenance.
Outdoor golf clocks are bigger in size and can be of 24” in diameter. These are most post clocks installed on the turf with minimum land occupancy. Outdoor clocks can be electric powered or battery operated and both these options are difficult to implement because you will have to dig out several thousand meters of tunnel for laying electric cables. It is not convenient to route electric cables through poles as they will be obstructing golf play. Battery option can be a costly affair and golf course may require about 100 clocks. Advanced technology has invented the solar clock for this purpose as it will operate independently by generating electricity from sunlight.
The latest golf course clocks are also available with the option of auto updating of time. These clocks are fitted with GPS which gets the latest time update from satellites and keep the clocks showing accurate time. The slow play clock is installed to speed up play and it always show remaining time to the players so they increase the tempo and finish a hole in time. These are special clocks that are an essential tool for conducting golf play. Clubhouse clocks are special clocks that are designed to enhance the looks of the clubhouse and its surroundings. Elegant looking Rolex model clocks are mostly preferred for golf courses over the world.
