Here’s a drabble about the day Morgana’s parents died
Under the cut bc it’s long and also this is sad
Morgana always remembered her smile. And her bell like laugh. She remembered the way she held her, the way she smelled. Her memory would fade sometimes, but Morgana always had these images of her mother and she held onto them dearly.
She remembered the attacks, how could she not? It got fuzzy- there was so much red. She thought it was blood- and it was, but there was more to it.
It was Pendragon red.
When her homeland was attacked, Morgana was shoved into the servant’s passage, running for her life with some knight who was claiming to protect her. While she ran, Uther had other ideas in mind.
“Find his wife and kill her, bring their girl too. I’ll get rid of her personally. If Goloris fights, kill him too.”
“Your Majesty, I urge you again to rethink this. They are your friends.”
“Vivienne is a sorceress, it’s best if this land is rid of all of them and their dangerous kind.”
Morgana remembered crying and her vision blurring as the fires engulfed her mother. No, she never saw the execution, but she felt a deep loss in her heart and she could hear her mother’s cries. She assumed there was a fire, not a burning. She thought her father would survive, but she learned later he was slain as well.
“Uther!” She cried in relief, King Uther was her father’s friend, he must’ve been here to help them. She might be safe after all. She had no idea he intended to kill her himself. But one look of her tear stained face, a face full of innocence, did Uther falter.
She was his daughter, his only one. While he wanted a son, he had to pay for his sins. He had to take her in. She’d never know her true origins, but he would take care of her. The little girl who looked up at him with hope and fear.
Morgana remembered his hardened face, full of hatred before his gaze softened. She never told that to anyone, not even Uther, but she remembered feeling as if the king wasn’t so kind after all. Until he took her in and rescued her from the attacks.
She only learned later how deep his hatred and paranoia lied.
"She married to protect us and played the part of a content royal tole with a blessed marriage regardless of her hatred for her husband, the man who dragged her away from her true love’s corpse"
