In Tsushima, this is a phenomena that is unknown. Located halfway between Korea and Japan, Tsushima is a place where paths will cross. After the the land dispute between the two countries ended and the island became populated by Japanese and Korean residents a different issue arose. The resident spirits, to whom the island truly belonged, became restless as urbanization grew. Now they live among the humans in order to ensure their safety but there has been a sudden spike in unexplained phenomena and mysterious accidents.
