@gentomologist liked your post: Komaeda Nagito wakes up on an island with no...
Komaeda had been lucky. While wandering around this park, he’d come across a swing set and slide, one of several he’d seen on his walk, just as his legs were getting tired. No one was around, so rather than sit on the bench, he’d walked over at sat on the swing. Simple swings like this were nice. Very few moving parts, and so long as he just sat here, pushing lightly at the ground, when the seat or chain snapped, it wasn’t much of a fall.
It was a childish thing to do, maybe, but there was no one around to see it. And even if there was, the opinion of average talentless people didn’t matter to him. And he was already so much lower than anyone whose opinion mattered, if they saw him here on the swing and looked down on him, that would be only fitting.
So he sat there, his arms wrapped around the chains of the swing, rocking just a little bit, forward and back, forward and back, enjoying the sounds and sights of nature. He liked the outdoors, even though he burnt easily and was always getting hurt one way or another. In fact, he always tried to take the time to enjoy it when he found himself somewhere with an especially nice view. Even if that view was outside a hospital window, or he got there because a plane fell out of the sky or he’d been trapped on an tropical island by an evil robot bear.
No matter what his luck brought, nature was still beautiful, and he liked beautiful things. Beautiful things like this butterfly that was lazily flitting about the swing set. Komaeda didn’t really know all that much about insects in general, much less the fauna of this brand new city, so he had no idea at all how rare this particular species was. He was just enjoying its colors.
