I wanted to read ‘I’m glad my mom died’ because it knew it was a memoir about a complicated, abusive relationship between a daughter and her mom and I thought I would find some comfort in a story I could relate too.

What I did not expect was for the book to describe almost to a T what the relationship between me and my mom was like when I was a teenager. Maybe not the same circumstances, but the exact same relationship dynamic and tactics that she used on me.
