Yknow the season is good when even the most strict pretty cure fan wants everyone to be a cure. like even for me, usually really random cure suggestions arent my cup of tea... Not this time though! Jet's a cure! Nigee's a cure! Both of Mikuru's friends! Actually are you a young girl with more character design than other background characters? YOU'RE A CURE!!
So we are getting close to Arcane Shadow joining the main team (forgoing any routine breakers) and i just gotta say

Star Detective Precure First Thoughts
The TLDR is: seems like they mean business.
it all flowed well and with a lot of momentum. they focused on the small details down to the strap on the fairy (and even used it for more than just incognito mode) and even the chain of the pendant in the transformation sequences. Speaking of the transformations, hanamaru for them. i could nit pick, but there's really no reason to when it was executed so well. the part where they walk and get their shoes will stick in my brain im sure.
My expectations were really low going in (never know if you and idol was an omen or not) so i sort of expected a lot of the "detective" work to boil down to basically the same problem solving the franchise has always done. Only for them to right out the bat go into interrogating a room of people! it was nice to see them not only think of hypothesis but also test them! good lesson for kids. Then the villain was also nicely handled. no fluff at the very least. i was wondering how they were going to handle such direct confrontation in a show like this. having the culprit, no matter who, poof into a flamboyant villain is honestly a hilarious solution. They also let the big bad speak for themselves this time. maybe a little bit to much when it came to the actual fight (youd think the girl were pro martial artist) but it made me excited for the future! Oh and the twist at the end was really the cherry on top! truly the best way to end a really solid episode.
theres still lots of time for them to royally mess up. but im excited for next episode and i haven't said that in a while

Cure Friendly was 100% a previous design for Cure Answer, that was rejected for being WAY to on the nose for a detective series, you can not change my mind on this
I personally can't wait for Witch Hat Atelier to get an even bigger following with the anime coming out soon and we get armies of people defending a literal child groomer. And usually i would never throw that word around lightly but the amount of damage Qifrey caused Coco makes it feel like the appropriate time to be using it. The discourse is going to be immense
Im so sure Shiruku is Eclair

She also has the same eye color or close to as Luluka, and seeing as we all think Mikuru and Anna are related (they totally are) it would make sense that Shiruku and Luluka would also be related!
Mid seasons cures also always have something about them that makes them especially good at being a cure. i can't think of a single mid season where they were as clueless as the leader cure is when they first get powers. And well...the other three options just don't have that something!
and thats all not to even mention that Luluka's Ice cream ad pose is literally the same pose Eclair uses in a lot of her promo art.
The latest episode of Kimi to Idol Precure is a great example of how children's media is also a form of propaganda!
We can see in this episode the normalisation of both drinking and toxic work culture!

Kimi to idol precure and Delicious Party precure are bad in all the same ways. Its kinda funny. Keep trying to make idol fist touch seem new and interesting 46 episodes in!
