a lovely review from one of our members...
I’d never heard of kobacha or red mooli, that is until I became hooked on the newsletters from the Enfield Veg Co. As a disclaimer I should say I am the partner of the new farm manager, Angelika Hauses. So I had a vested interested in well, being interested. I am a lifelong meat eater and have grown up, like as far as I can see, most people being very suspicious of ‘greens’. I like the newsletter’s upbeat messages, which in the current times make a pleasant change. Whatever you believe about the right course for the country’s future, it has created strife and uncertainty. So, a focus on growing things naturally and finding interesting ways to make new meals makes a fresh change.
So, these days, the various teenagers in the house get things like roasted kobacha in maple syrup, cauliflower curry and marinated beetroot and grilled goats cheese, which are all a million miles from anything I have thought about let alone cooked previously. They look at these new dishes with huge suspicion and wariness. But they tuck in and I reckon, without knowing the details, that the food must be good for them, being organic and full of various vitamins. I know some young ‘uns who spend a lot on protein shakes or buying vitamins. That all seems pointless in view of the above. Meanwhile, I’ll be waiting for the next newsletter…
