Summary:

Ilya has learned that love gives you time, but it cannot make forever out of two weeks. He worries at his bottom lip, feeling the first seeds of dread as he leans against Shane’s bureau. He’s dressed, his bag is zipped, and it’s still dark outside. Shane sleeps, adorably, half on his stomach with his face nearly off the pillow. He didn’t need to get up as early as Ilya. You don’t need to get up as early just to drive someone to the airport. It’s 3 am. Ilya’s flight is at 7:30 and they still need to make the two-hour drive. OR At some point, you have to leave the cottage. Shane drives Ilya to the airport.

Letting go is also a form of love. You are saying, " You are a great person, but this is not going to go anywhere. You and I are not compatible. We are not looking for the same things." It's not arrogance or callousness to say the truth as soon as you realize it. You save the other person from further bonding with you, protect them from pain, and save time that they should use in finding the right person for them and not squandering it on a useless pursuit. If someone is sincere enough to do this for you, honor their courage by accepting their decision and letting go too. It's a kindness you are doing to both of your hearts.

This scene was emotional. 🥹 Robert’s “We’ve got each other” hurt especially deep… He has to cling on to the hope that he’s gonna see his sister and his nephew again soon. All he wants is to support and protect his family.

He told Vic once that Aaron, herself and Harry were all he got. Now he only has Aaron.
