trixie hadn't even waited for her dad to put the car in park before she was clambering out, ignoring his disgruntled voice calling out behind her. instead she left the door open, feet hurriedly carrying her towards the front door. it was open, as usual, and she wasted no time in pushing inside. "i'm home!" words seem to echo, but she pays that no mind, eyes flickering around the immediate area. her mother's not there waiting for her like normal, and trixie feels the skin on the back of her neck tickle. somewhere in the back of her mind she registers that her dad was approaching, but she pays it no mind, instead deciding to quickly climb the stairs. without thinking to knock or announce her presence again, she pushes open the door to her mother's room. "mom?"
