my favorite thing about voting in King Co. is Goodspaceguy. he makes it into every single ballot. someday he’ll just launch himself and his free market gobbledygook right into orbit and the city will be just a little sadder for it

I finally actually checked my mail and got my ballot for the local primary here... since it's a non-partisan primary it's full of weirdos and they don't mark which candidates are actually endorsed or nominated by their parties, and they seem to be listed in a random order, and because I haven't been keeping up with local politics as much as I should have and have mostly only vague recollections of the major players' names I wound up reading some very strange candidate statements. Most of them just said they had no experience in elected positions or something along the lines of "I'm not a career politician, so you should vote for me", but one of them listed his experience of being elected high school class president in 1957... another one admitted he had no experience, but gave "watched C-SPAN for 30 years" as his "other relevant professional experience". As part of his platform, he wanted to make C-SPAN more interesting. I bet this guy who was running for House Rep has him covered there:

Then there's this guy, who runs for office pretty much every single election and really did legally change his name to Goodspaceguy:

Voting here is so much more enjoyable than voting anywhere else precisely because they mail you this information pamphlet and you get to read all this shit

unfortunately i once again could not vote for him as he is batshit crazy

also he ran under the “Trump Republican Party” which not only does not exist, but he was also not the only person running under this fictitious party

to be clear: Washington State law does not recognize the party system, so entering your party preference as a candidate is option and also apparently a simple fill-in-the-blank category, so whatever you put doesn’t really have to exist. thus conservatives running as “GOP” and at least one dude on today’s primary (whom i believe i actually voted for) calling himself a part of the “Essential Workers’ Party”, so voice his support for the worker’s rights of those still forced to work.

oh my Fucking god so apparently to make the WA State Voter’s Guide accessible to all they must’ve asked each candidate to submit a spoken version of their entry and statement as a video.

So there’s this guy in my area who runs for office every year called Goodspaceguy. He’s run as a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, and of the made up Employmentwealth party. His main goal is to explore and colonize space, and even though he’s never gotten elected, he keeps trying. 10/10 keep up the good work.
