they deserve it
Good morning my little kittens. Today is a continuation of yesterday. It is the same day.
“Don’t spill this drink,” Ilya said, “it’s more beautiful than you are."
I was going to write a quick one-two shot, a scene with Shane having a bad trip and Ilya rescuing him, and then a happy follow-up scene with Ilya gently feeding him edibles and letting him snuggle once they're an established couple, but instead so far I just have like three thousand words of Ilya reconnecting with all of the Russians in the MHL.
I don't think this two-shot is getting written.
(I've learned my lesson and don't try to do Five Things stories. Not how I write. And I can't do oneshots. A twoshot seemed so reasonable! It is not.)
I've been not just blocked but gridlocked on everything else, so this is the first thing I've written in... pretty much December... but it's not shaping up, it's more like when you turn the pipes on after a while and it's all rusty dirt-water. But at least Ilya's funny and I've worked in some post-Soviet politics.
Ilya glanced at each of the men in turn, then at Marlow, and said, “Marlow, this is not a good time for you to make the first joke you have ever made to me about Russians.” Marlow wasn’t terribly bright, or versed in geopolitics, “Is that,” he said, “wait is that a thing?” “It’s not funny,” Ilya said. “We are not in mob.”
Anyway. I doubt I'll get far but it was entertaining and it got me to turn the word-spigot back on for a bit.

Pike Squared
“Jim! Can you not even take a simple training cruise without stirring up trouble?” Admiral Pike heaved a sigh of half amusement, half annoyance.
Jim had contacted him on the most secure video link he could, so obviously it was important. But what could happen on a simple training mission?
“I’m sorry, Sir. A new wormhole opened up and brought us an unexpected guest.”
“Can’t you send them back?” He asked. “We’ve had enough problems with visitors from other universes.”
“I don’t think we’ll have problems with this particular person,” Kirk said, with a very wry smile. “But no, we can’t send him back because the wormhole self-destructed. We barely beamed him on board in time and got the heck out of there. Heading back to space dock.”
