EU want to split Google search from other services but they can't do anything!
Google have created the last few years a lot of controversy, and created lots of enemies, mainly due to it's involvement in the NSA spying on the EU countries, but also due to the it's monopoly in search, and how it uses it to promote it's own products!
Google have been under investigation by the EU for some time, but now the EU parliament have sent a strong and loud message for the commission to act:
EU lawmakers backed last week a non-binding resolution urging antitrust regulators to break up Google. The resolution approved with a large majority — 384 votes to 174, with 56 abstentions — is a symbolic protest.
Andreas Schwab, a German lawmaker and co-sponsor of the bill, said it was a political signal to the European Commission, adding: "Monopolies in whatever market have never been useful, neither for consumers nor for the companies,".
In reality, the EU commission can do nothing to separate Google search from it's other services, Google being a US company, the EU can have absolutely no influence on it's structure, the EU can issue sanctions though, fining the tech giant few $millions a year, but what's a few $ millions for a company making over $40 billion?!
