got a $10 tracfone smartphone today just to use to replace the intercom (because the old building intercom connections were severed for a phone/app based system, kinda lame)
here's a comparison of its camera (right hand photos) vs my pixel 5 camer (left hand photos) with the room lights on full
honestly besides the camera quality difference (and that wasn't a surprise, Pixels usually rate among the very best smartphone cameras you can get) the phone was very responsive and seems like it'd be totally usable to get by on. didn't use to be that you could rely on a phone that cheap to be at all good to use but we're at that place now.
