Every other week I hang out in my neighborhood Starbucks for a couple of hours, ☕ using the time to read 📙 and work on homework. 💻 I’ve also been known to exchange texts and calls with @zaibatsu, but mostly I work. I had to move my car (2-hour time limit) 🚗 and asked “Jamie,” who was sitting near me, if she would watch my laptop, iPad and backpack?🎒 I added, “Do you think it’s weird that I’m asking you to watch my stuff when we don’t even know each other?” She said, “Not at all! I’m a very trustworthy person!” ☺️ Ten minutes later I was back, and there was Jamie. And my stuff. She asked me if I was a writer because earlier she saw me furiously typing away. 💻 It turns out Jamie’s a writer and thought she’d recognized “the behavior.” We discovered we live about 6 blocks from one another and are within a few years, age-wise. We exchanged contact info with the intent of meeting again. 📲 I hope it happens. 👭 On the way home I decided to pull over because something colorful caught my eye. 👁️ It’s amazing how much you miss when you’re zipping past in a car. 🚙 The three shots (orange rose, pink wild rose and poppy) 🏵️🌸💮 were in parking strips and bordering front stairways, so not super noticeable while driving. But on foot the details were beautiful. A UC Berkeley article says there is really something to stopping and smelling the roses, and that “appreciation” is twice as important as gratitude when it comes to achieving satisfaction in life. 🌹 With a couple of sad events in the past few weeks, I have to remind myself there is beauty around me and people I don’t see often enough, and that sometimes life can be shorter than we expect. Good reminder to slow down, and stop and smell the roses. 🥀 #Stopandsmelltheroses #appreciation #satisfaction #flowers #roses #flowersofinstagram #flowerstagram #naturephotography #pixelphotography #pixelperfect #googlepixelphotos (at Starbucks) https://www.instagram.com/p/BycHf3AgYxx/?igshid=11hx11q46jyy9
