im sure youre probably tired of the dect asks by now but i have to say that i love the metaphysics aspects of dect a ton. how characters are impacted by the narrative and how it gives them(and, inversely, deprives them of) identity is def one of my favorite things in there. was there anything aside from 2-s that may have inspired it, and do you recommend any resources or further reading in terms of that sort of stuff?
<3 <3 there's nothing specific from 2-S that inspired it, but the fact that the level is a transparent, but ultimately genuine, spoof of a preexisting trope contributed to it in a major way the boundaries of a genre/story's meta and discovering the root of the utility and role of a character are important to recognize when breaking the rules of that meta; it's easier to see the constraints and purpose of mirage and v2's characterizations when viewing them as plot tools rather than characters. i will put some recs under the cut
