What r ur fave eldritch aspects of gordon feetman (personally i love how he can leave his body for a bathroom break lol)

I love the idea of the facade slipping in little ways. He sits down and it's obviously a programmed animation for sitting down in a chair. Maybe the animation is even locked to the wrong height, so he clips or hovers for a moment before reality puts him where he should be. He picks up a drink off the coffee table but his hands are a lie, they're just the world around him trying to construct what his hands should be and how they should hold things, and oops it automatically went sideways when he picked it up and now the drink is all over the couch. And what's everyone going to do? Are they going to share uncomfortable glances at this reminder that this is not a real person, but a meat puppet that exists to observe them from elsewhere? No, they're going to clown on his ass for not knowing how to sit on the sofa properly and for getting soda all over it. God's Here And He's Stupid fun fact I took SO long to answer this because I totally misread the question at first. I read it as "what are Gordon's favorite aspects of being an eldritch being", which is a MUCH HARDER QUESTION TO ANSWER.

The first night Coomer and Bubby sleep in the same bed after the Half Life 2 incident is difficult.

It's not their first night back. Both slept alone then, and neither would take the bed. Bubby claimed that he wasn't used to such a soft mattress after twenty years (twenty years) making do with what he had in his lab, and that the cot in the basement would suit him just fine. Coomer doesn't try to make an excuse. He hasn't earned the bed of that happily married couple. The man who left Bubby in what he thought to be a dying world gets to sleep on the couch.

(Additional Voices tried to look past the obvious the tension and politely accepted his hosts' offer of a room of his own for the night. Gordon had his new home ready for him by the next afternoon.)

Bubby is the one who suggests they try, but neither is enthusiastic. Coomer feels like an intruder. Bubby feels intruded upon. Both know they can't pick up where they left off the night before the playthrough.

Coomer had long ago accepted that, while his memories from before the Black Mesa incident were automatically generated by the game, they were still his truth and his history. His childhood, his first marriage, his decades together with Bubby-- they had shaped who he was, and so they were real.

Well, now he and Bubby have new auto-generated memories.

He'd stayed. The game had ended, and he had ended with it. They'd shut down together. One day, Gordon woke him up without a body, promising to put the world together for him. When he next awoke, it was in his new Home. They all lived happily ever after.

And,

He'd left. The game kept moving.

He didn't know how to save Bubby. He didn't want to shatter his reality.

He didn't have time to think.

He left him to die.

He came back.

He left him for six years.

He left him for twenty years.

Coomer lies staring at the ceiling for an hour or so before he considers moving back to the couch. He sits up, sighing. He's considers whether the movement of attaching his legs would be enough to wake Bubby when he feels an arm fumbling to grasp his pajamas.

"I don't want you to leave again."

The words are mumbled. Coomer's not even sure Bubby is fully awake, but the grip on the corner of his shirt tightens.

"Please don't."

Wordlessly, he shuffles back under the covers. Bubby clings to his body.

They're not ready to talk about forgiveness yet. But that's not really what either of them needs right now.

Gordon Streamman AU Talk: Fucked For Life

I haven't specified what I meant when I said the AIs could return to the Home program with their memories restored "after". After the full campaign, after the individual acts? Originally my thought was "the campaign", but now that we know the length we're dealing with, i'm not too sure. The whole idea had a nice twist of Copium, of course-- I'm not ready to give up this idyllic postgame counter-canon, maybe if I brute force it we can have both things be true! But with things being what they are... oh baby, this does NOT make my AU the nice easy alternative.

First, and perhaps least interesting: my original concept. The AIs are stuck in the new timeline until the campaign ends. In this situation, Gordon's mental health is FUCKED. No wonder the "water" is affecting him so badly, his brain must be an active tornado of blame and panic. Frankly, I don't think he'd agree to this if it was going to take that long. Maybe he didn't realize just how much the game would take to the adaptive coding? He was expecting just a jaunt with his friends, not to have them scattered to the winds with new lives while he got to meet literal new lives.

And the second option. The "merciful" one. The one where they get to leave between acts. How do you come home from that?

One minute you're a mixologist more or less living in early retirement, enjoying video games, flying kites, finding ways to occupy your days. And then, for a few hours, none of that has ever been true. You've spent the last twenty years apart from most of these people. You stopped coloring your hair to try and touch up the grays a long time ago, those chemicals and pigments in the dyes could be used to save lives instead of catering to vanity. It's been just as long since you could put on our rocket boots without needing to stop and switch out your leg prosthetic. And just as quickly, you're woken up into a world where the truth about your reality sinks in as freshly as it did six-- six, only six, what do you mean only six-- years ago. Your appearance isn't a body to you anymore. It's a character model. No matter which one you choose, it will never be correct.

At least you're not the one who has to get into bed at night pressed against a husband who remembers moving on after decades without you.
