I’m going to make this short and sweet, since I don’t have a whole lot to say about the albums that I’m going to be talking about. I’ll be blunt – they’re not bad albums at all, and in fact, they’re really damn good, but you can honestly check out my reviews of Aborted’s last couple of albums, 2016’s Retrogore, and 2014’s The Necrotic Manifesto, because my thoughts on those albums pretty much mirror these, those albums being 2003’s Goremageddon: The Saw And The Carnage Done, and 2005’s The Archaic Abbatoir. Simply put, I’ve been listening to a lot of deathgrind, death metal, and some grindcore, so I thought I’d get back into a few bands that I’ve listened to before, as well as get into their earlier records. Aborted was one of those bands, since I loved their last couple of albums, so I wanted to get some of their early ones. They’re a band that’s only been around since the early 00s, but that’s when deathgrind really started. I mean, you had a lot of grindcore bands in the late 80s and early 90s, but around that time, death metal was starting to take many forms. Some bands set the template for deathgrind, though, such as Suffocation and Cryptopsy, releasing some very, very brutal, crushing, and intense albums that would very much be an influence on deathgrind. Those bands were as close as deathgrind as you could get, but they only laid the template for it. Aborted, Cattle Decapitation, and Exhumed that helped to pioneer that style. I just talked about a couple of early Exhumed albums, their first two, and I wanted to talk about a couple of early Aborted albums. The thing is, like I said, I don’t have anything that interesting to say. I mean, it’s Aborted, and that’s not to say these are bad, uninteresting, or boring albums, because Aborted is the furthest thing from boring. These two albums are brutal, gory, disgusting, and bloody in all the best ways, so they’re exactly what you’d expect from them. There’s nothing wrong with that whatsoever, but that’s all I really have to say here. They’re Aborted albums, and that’s all you need to know, but they’re fantastic albums, nonetheless.
