A wizard examines a windmill, but the closer one looks the more the implications of the scene change -- The windmill has butterfly or faerie wings but the structure is made of rusty steel, and the wizard may be wearing a motorcycle helmet. Many fantasy settings are built upon the postapocalyptic ruins of a previous civilization, whether the ancient catastrophe was magical or high tech.
