saw eight new species of birds this weekend

#mine #personal #being somewhere rural really helps it seems! who knew?#jk it's always a great place to be for this #but between spring and the leaves not being all the way back (good visibility) and bugs being tolerable (blackflies don't bother me too muc #) i was able to see a lot and be outside to see things more than normal #so many colourful pretty things too! and some fun ones i've already seen as well #first north american wood duck! only ever seen them in europe before #saw them all the time there but never here #gorgeous animals #a bunch of warblers and a bunch of colourful ones and some i've been wanting to see for ages #inCLUDING A BLUEBIRD!!!!#guys it happened #they were very pretty

A.K.A: The Zulu Hud Bug

In the Zulu language: iCikwa

Scientific Name: Sphaerocoris annulus

Region: Various terrains throughout Southeast Asia

Size: About 0.3" (~7.6mm) long

Interesting Notes: The beautiful, "Hand-painted" markings on this mesmerizing little insect are thought to ward off potential predators. If this is not enough, when alarmed, they release a foul-smelling odor. Both male and female sport the same stunning markings - always with exactly eleven spots.
