We saw these beautiful wildflowers at the Tom McCall Preserve part of the Rowena Crest in Northern Oregon. These spectacular yellow and purple wildflowers bobbed in the breeze on a huge plateau overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. From the placards at the preserve, we learned that lava flows, catastrophic floods, and volcanic ash deposits gave birth to this area.
