Городки (Gorodki) is an ancient Russian folk sport similar in concept to bowling and horseshoes. The aim is to knock out groups of skittles, i.e. pins, by throwing a bat at them. These skittles are named Городки (little cities) and the area in which they are situated is known as the Город (city).
