From dust you came, to dust you shall return.
The Lenten season reminds us that life on earth is transitory. Our main purpose here is purification and preparation as we enter the promised gates of heaven.
The term purification, for some of us, appears to require demanding effort. And yes, that is true. But the Lenten season illustrates the guidelines of how we can achieve such:
1) GIVE - become selfless in both tangible and intangible things
2) PRAY - lose ourselves in the presence of our Lord
3) FAST - letting out of worldly desires that we may be filled with Godly desires
It is in becoming selfless that we become more like Christ. It is in becoming selfless that we return to Him.
