I whispered in the suffocating silence, knowing that no one would answer nor hear me, because I was alone. I gently chuckled at the idea of me talking to myself, then looked over my work. The white tiles lining the platform wall shone blindingly under the light of Wunder. To tell the truth, everything was bright except the tunnel, which emanated cold and darkness. 'Scary' I thought. Then I shouted it aloud, just to ensure I have not lost my voice. The echo came, as if I was not by myself. 'Yes. Me and the voices in my head.' I mused 'Although I would be better off alone.'
When I started doing the Gossamer Line, I had not imagine the finish like this. I thought it would be a joyful, glorious, triumphant moment, but now instead of that, all I can feel is emptiness echoing in my chest. It is like someone is gripping my heart through my ribcage, trying to tear it out, but can only take it out piece by piece. Not a great feeling, if you ask me. Anyways, it does not feel as ghostly as it sounds. In the past few months I became used to it. It was always there when everything else had failed and corrupted, when everyone had left. But yes, as I said, at least it was always there for me.
It is still better than the chaos in my head. Something is trying to break my skull from the inside.
Then a distant howling startled me, making me abandon my train of thought. My hunt was calling me. I hurried out of the platform, leaving my work behind.
