WIP: Misamahl’len Drinks with Sera
Was having some health issues and decided to channel my moping into an angst fic about the Inquisitor dealing with their hand during Trespasser. Because he’s a little emo shithead and sometimes so am I.
"Thought you elfy types didn't get shitfaced."
Miamahl'len raised his head slowly from the table and arched a brow at Sera. "You're drunk."
"Yeah, but you're wasted." She rocked backwards in her seat, giggling. "Remember that first drink? In Haven? Could tell you didn't like the stuff. Went straight to your head. But look at you now."
She caught the dryness in his tone. The Winter Palace's tavern was all but deserted at this hour, but she leaned close, her smile faltering as her eyes searched his face. "That... thing. It's getting worse, isn't it?"
Misamahl'len raised his cup in a mocking toast. "Hence the drinking."
"Solas fixed it once, right? Friggin' nob, gone without a word just when you'd actually want him around. But if he could do something, you can do something. Like, magic or whatever."
"It's not that simple." He stared down at his hand, the skin cracked and raw where it gripped his mug. It wasn't healing like it once had. The energy was building up more quickly, the flares growing stronger. He took another long sip. "I... don't think it can be fixed, Sera."
"Don't do that." There was frustration behind the words, but her eyes were suddenly looking anywhere but at him. "Don't talk like it's over, like you're going away. First Dorian and now..." She glanced up just in time to see him wince. "Shit. Shit! Sorry.”
With a tired sigh, Misamahl'len slumped back down, pressing his cheek to the cool wood of the table. "It's okay."
"It's not. Just trying to make people cry, the both of you." She lay her head on the table next to his so she could look him in the eye. "Where is he?"
"Sleeping. I told you." He spared her a thin-lipped smile. "He... needed his rest."
"I'll bet he did. Doesn't explain why you're out here, though. Naked fun's even better than drunk fun."
He sat up, the blood rushing to his head. It nearly drowned out the throbbing in his hand. Nearly. "Sera... thank you for this."
Again, she looked away. "Yeah, yeah. I leave you alone, you'll be drinking with Ser Snobbington of Wherever-the-Piss." She shook her head, grumbling into her cup. "Hate the Winter Palace. Hate it."
"Yeah, me too." Misamahl'len pushed slowly to his feet. "I should go."
Sera looked up at him with narrowed eyes. After a moment's hesitation, she threw her arms around his waist, her words muffled against his tunic. "Stupid drunk elfy bastard shithead."
Misamahl'len laughed at that. Slowly, he disentangled himself and stepped outside.
