“I am Groot!” The miniature sized tree exclaimed, stomping up towards you, his tiny arms crossed over his chest as he gave what sounded like a huff. Twisting your body so that you were facing him, you raised and eyebrow, squatting down so that you reached his eye level.
“Why’re you angry?” You questioned whilst Groot climbed up your jeans the moment you sat on the floor and patted your knees. Tugging on your pants, Groot finally made it to the top and he plopped himself down on your knee, facing you with his large doe eyes that burned with fury. Groot opened his mouth, about to spill out all his problems to you but his mouth suddenly shut as fast as it had opened. He scrunched up his eyebrows, seemingly pondering if he should indulge in you with his current situation but after much consideration, he shook his head, deciding to keep his current problem to himself.
Lifting the corners of your mouth upwards, you offered a tiny smile as you began to stroke the little tree’s back, humming a lullaby you remembered listening to as a child. Soon, the humming turned into soft singing and your voice filled the ship, sending a calming presence to everyone who heard it. Groot stared transfixed at you, soaking in the lyrics of the song as your melodious singing made the burning flame inside of Groot sizzle, slowly dying down.
“Are you still angry?” You asked, nudging the miniature tree with your finger. The corners of Baby Groot’s mouth immediately lifted upwards to form a smile, the tree’s eyes back to its usual shining and childlike sparkle. The tree shook his head, getting up from his sitting position and walking towards you. When he stood right in front of your stomach, he scrunched up his face as he commanded his arms to grow longer.
Once they reached his desired length, he wrapped his long arms around you, bringing you in to a hug, squeezing you as he pressed the side of his face against your stomach. “I am Groot...” He whispered as the smile on your face widened. Rubbing his back with your finger, you continued filling the tree’s head with your song, looking at him with adoration in your eyes.
