Makeup question for all the people who actually know what they’re doing out there. In like trad goth, romantic goth, mall goth styles, ect… do they put on the white face paint to make themsleves paler? Or do they put on the white because it’s white?

Like if I wanted to recreate that look on my skin, would I just buy foundation a few shades lighter, or would I put on white face paint? I’m trying to learn more about the art of makeup because I think it’s very very cool! But I’d been doing the same style since I learned how to put on makeup when I was 5. So I’m not very good at this.
