      “ if you want to talk , i suppose we —— ” . small talk is just not her thing — or any sort of talk , really . punching , she’s great at , beating up , getting bloody : truly one of a kind . but the seven’s own queen maeve is now awkwardly teetering at the edge of his personal space , uncertain . and she’s craving a DRINK every second more .

               “then i’m sorry, bruce, because it must’ve only meant something to you.”   the words are out of her mouth before she can stop herself. why does she always do this? why does she push everyone away, ruin every good thing that comes into her life? dark eyes refuse to meet his. if she looks at him, she’ll crumple. he’ll know she’s lying, that it meant... so much to her, the time they’ve spent together. she’s never been good at hiding that type of thing, and when she looks at him, her heart swells.  —except for right now. now, she’s sure that, if you listen hard enough, you can hear it cracking.   “i don’t feel anything for you.”
