Oh, How I long to meet God.
Heavenly Mother...
Hello to anyone reading this!
Christianity seems to put more emphasis on the men in scriptures than the women. Some Christians don’t believe that there is a Heavenly Mother and a Heavenly Father, or that Jesus Christ could have taken a wife. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions- I am just going to share what I have learned and come to know through my own journey into Christianity.
1. Balance
The universe needs balance. A masculine and feminine. This may seem to be less about Christianity and more about energies, but it is worth noting none-the-less. Balance is necessary for everything, without it there would be only chaos.
2. We are made in the likeness of God... but if God is a man, what does that make women?
Women are made in the likeness of our Heavenly Mother- this has been said by Spencer W. Kimball
In Gospel Topics, there are several references to Heavenly Mother. Joseph Smith is said to have spoken and written (briefly) about our Heavenly Mother. Please look these up if you have the time- they are all worth reading!
3. Ordinances
All of the ordinances that are on this earth were given to us by Jesus Christ. This includes the Sealing Ceremony (marriage). It is said that Jesus himself perform the ordinances given- if you believe this to be true, then Christ himself would have had a Sealing Ceremony. Some shave speculated that Jesus was married to Marry Magdalene, though we may never actually know who the wife of Christ was while we are on this earth.
To repeat, this is only my experiences. I am not here to tell you that I know everything (it is obvious that I don’t), but I hope that I have at least made you think more critically about this. Women are equal to men- this is said by many different prophets. I want to help make that known.
Thanks for reading! Feel free to add your own thoughts (either in comments/notes or tag me)
Sincerely,
Your Friendly, Neighborhood Goth Chick
A Crazy Time...
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here, but this is a crazy time! As anyone with a missionary currently serving may know, many are being sent home or reassigned due to the COVID-19 crisis. In my boyfriend’s case, he will be quarantined in Argentina for a time before he can get a flight back to Canada. Once back in Canada, he will be quarantined again and (possibly) reassigned a mission somewhere in Canada. It is hard to know whether a reassignment is even possible as the Canadian government is cracking down on anyone who is not staying within their homes as often as they can. For anyone not staying home (unless it is necessary to leave), they can be charged and fined as they are putting their fellow citizens at risk.
It is important to try to remain calm, panic is only going to make things worse. Be diligent, not panicky. For those of you that find comfort in faith, I encourage you to pray to your Heavenly Father for peace and safety. For those with families, hold them close and teach good health practices. If you can, try to get fresh air as often as possible- fresh air is good for your mental health and can help you feel less isolated. Even just sitting in your yard (not wandering too far from your house), can help you feel more connected to nature and (in turn) to your creator.
We must remember to be kind to one another, especially those in the retail service and the healthcare system. These people are putting themselves at risk to help their fellow citizens. Be humble and understanding. Remember you are loved.
I hope someone can find comfort in this and know that their are always people who are willing to help in whatever way they can. Stay safe!
