So, some of you know that my relationship with my mom was challenging. We were much like two magnets of the same polarity and just struggled to connect. But damn was she funny! Once, during the telephone company telemarketing campaigns, this is what she delivered to the hapless caller: “Hello! We’d like to tell you about all the amazing features you’ll get by switching to us!” She then lets him tell her, in great detail, after which she says, “Oh, it all sounds wonderful, but I don’t have a telephone!” After a lengthy silence he comes back and asks, “Um, how are you talking to me then?” “Well,” she says, “I have no idea!” They stopped calling. . I took this plant from her house after she passed. I planted part of it next to the headstone and took the rest with me, watching as it dropped leaves and stopped flowering. It bloomed for the first time on Monday, after almost a year.
