Transformers: Housing in disguise
Finalizing my design for my camper/truck. Minimalists, and extreme campers, pay attention. This setup is very low budget. Never know when you're gonna have to go to ground. So here's the main idea: The whole thing is collapsible and transforms in minutes to a completely stored living area in the bed of the truck in less than two minutes, and possibly less than a minute for two experienced people. Setting up awning can be a 5-10 minute job to an all day fiasco depending on average wind velocity. 2 man tent in bed of truck, put folded carpet inderneath for base padding. Put sandcatching rug inside, create basic living area. Optional is the bedside toilet with removable chamber pot, which doubles as a pretty nice chair. I have a new chair for chairing though. Near to ground beach chair. For electrical I have a 160 watt power inverter and the entire system known to most as an alternator and battery, though it's really quite a lot more complicated. Hopefully I can get this 400 watt inverter to strap to my alternator so when the car is on and the hood is up I have high wattage power. I've secured the areas for tent stakes with rope that has JUST a little give. Should allow heavy beach winds to rock the tent gently but not cause unnecessary strain on the tent rods. Will need to invest in new tent rods. Outside the tent and permanently affixed to the peak of the tent and two removable and collapsible rods is a rollable and collapsable awning. This is very much a work in progress I'll need to iron out over the next few days to prevent wind strain, and figure out how to get it easily staked and unstaked. I want to optimally be ready to move the whole setup in under five minutes, unless I've got a complete camp set up. Optional to the driver's side tailgate corner is a six man tent. Haven't decided whether I care to invest the effort yet. This makes a very good day room, since there's standing room. Can find a thrown away couch and set it up inside, etc. That's a more permanent fixture though.
FOR LATER: Install 1kW solar array-- This includes a power bank with three deep-cycle batteries wired in parallel for good high amperage output. This is gonna be expensive though and I'm probably gonna have to build it 100 dollar piece by 100 dollar piece after an initial investment of about 400 dollars (about the price of a deposit for a small apartment) for basic 200 watt setup. Then just wire five of them together. Blah blah blah.
