It’s a simple gesture. A gentle hand rests in Bucky’s hair, fingers slowly moving through the strands. Moments like this helped the brunet to forget just how fucked up his life was beyond these four walls. All he needed was the other male. He’s unable to hold back a smile when he feels those familiar lips pressing against his hand and then he hears those three words. Did he – did he just say what he thought he said? Never did he hear those words spoken by the other before. “I love you, too.” The words flow off his tongue as he gently squeezes Bucky’s hand in his own. “Anything interesting?” he questions, gesturing to his phone.

Bucky did something to Jack. He managed to bring out a side of the prince that not many had a chance to see, including the heir of Gilboa himself. Most of the public knew him as some party boy that enjoyed hanging out with the ladies, but that was nothing more than a cover. One that – if anyone else should discover, especially his family – would ruin any attempts at the throne. It wasn’t necessarily ideal, but keeping their relationship under wraps seemed like the best decision. It was either that or say goodbye to the man he loved. “You sound so sure of yourself.” Unable to hold back a grin. His grin only widens upon hearing the question. “How many times do I have to tell you? You don’t have to ask for a kiss.” Without missing a beat, he moves a hand to rest on the back of Bucky’s neck, pulling him in for a kiss.

Steve grinned as the blush covered Bucky’s cheeks, even for a moment. He had loved this man for longer than he could admit to himself - he felt as if perhaps he’d always loved him, even when it was dangerous to do so. He leaned up into the kiss, pulling him closer by his hips as he teased Bucky’s mouth open with his own.

“Really really really?” he asked, chuckling softly as he brushed some of Bucky’s hair out of his eyes.
