I recently took a trip to Ludlow, VT and went to the Black River Folk and Blues Fest, where I saw The Break Maids perform. They're a female vocal trio that plays "original rock 'n roll with a folk-punk twist". Their drummer sometimes uses a WASHBOARD, which means they do not fuck around. I like that they have a screaming banshee quality to their sound and hope to hear more from them soon. This video's a little weak, but their performance was great.

While there, I did the obvious thing and visited a farmer's market.
Somewhere between the goat's milk caramel sauce and the most incredible apple pie I've ever tasted, I came across a jar of mint jelly, which I've never had before. I have to say it was kind of disappointing. Too sweet and not enough mint. But some cute old lady made it, and since I feel bad for dissing her jelly, here you go anyway:
