"And while I'm being honest here, I sent you those flowers and cheesy anonymous messages," Prescott quickly said before making his way back to his office in a slightly rushed manner.
Watching Prescott retreat, Hoffman resisted reaching out. He had a hunch about who was behind those silly messages but he held his tongue; he didn’t believe the bright and honorable Chairman would pull a prank like that. Especially if the man had picked up on all the unresolved tension between them. Hoffman did his damnedest to hide it but he knew he could be transparent and readable to Prescott’s keen eye.
Hoffman crossed his arms. “Asshole,” he whispered as he watched the chairman disappear into the distance.
